She dedicated her life to the service of others. A British Army Medic posted to Afghanistan has her whole future, as she'd envisioned, blown up in an improvised explosive device (IED) and lives to tell the tale.

Join me for this special edition of Under the Rug where you will hear a first-hand account of what it was like for Martha Prinsloo to not only survive such a horrific bomb explosion, but to fight for survival everyday since. Because of her fight, she was nominated to compete in the Invictus Games, established by Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex, which was hosted in Germany in September 2023.

You will walk away from this conversation completely inspired and ready to take on whatever it is you are facing. You will soon learn that you just don't know what doors your fight and your persistence will open if you don't give up.

What is the Invictus Games?

When Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex returned home from deployment in Afghanistan, he watched the coffin of a Danish Soldier alongside three injured British Soldiers being loaded for repatriation. This moment had a profound impact on him. Following a visit to the US Warrior Games in 2013, the very same year that Martha Prinsloo's armored vehicle was blown up in Afghanistan, Prince Harry was inspired to create the international Invictus Games to 'celebrate the unconquered human spirit, and shine a spotlight on the men and women who served.'

The Invictus Games Foundation offers a recovery pathway for international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women (WIS). They collaborate to provide opportunities for post-traumatic growth, enabling those involved to reclaim their purpose, identity and future, beyond injury.

Thank you for supporting Martha at the 2023 Invictus Games!

Thanks to the support of people from all over the world, our recent fundraising campaign achieved it's target of £8,500 for a specialist wheelchair specifically designed to cater for Martha's chosen sports. Martha was able to compete in power lifting, swimming and archery. We are so thankful to everyone who supported this cause and for making it happen.
